| The lung is an amazingly delicate organ that consists mostly of air and blood cells. The large U-shaped central element here is a blood vessel that contains doughnut-shaped red blood cells journeying through the lung. After leaving the lung, they will carry oxygen to the rest of the body. Like other adult organs, the lung has stem cells that are responsible for repairing damage. Here the blue cells are descendents of an important lung stem cell population. |
